New York’s boutique Hotel Gansevoort has opened a southern outpost in Miami Beach this month.
Gansevoort South has 334 rooms and 259 condos and features a modern design by the same New York team that stylized the first 187-room Gansevoort in the Big Apple’s meatpacking district.
Unlike its predecessor, Miami Beach’s Gansevoort, is larger. Eighteen stories up, it has a 26,000-square-foot rooftop area — the largest in the country, says Kristen Hammer, a hotel spokeswoman — with a 110-foot pool, plunge bar and lounge, surrounded by private cabanas, with ocean and bay views.
On a more down-to-earth level (fourth floor) is a pool plaza, with an infinity-edge pool, and there’s a 50-foot-long aquarium in the lobby that will house sharks. Still to come are a David Barton gym and spa (his first ever, Hammer says) and STK and Philippe restaurants.
