I just returned to az from a week in the santa ynez valley. while in solvang i had to find the best kringle (really called wienerbrød in denmark - kringle is made from a yeast dough and is totally different). however the best one i have had so far is from olsens bakery. i have tried kringle from other bakeries there before and was not impressed. they put in cardamom which just does not belong. you also will not find wienerbrød with raspberry or apple or pecan filling in denmark. you will only find the kind with almond paste and with prunes. you will however find kringle (the yeast dough kind) with raspberry or apple. danes do not know what pecan nuts are unless they have lived in the us. anyway, you want wienerbrød like it really tastes in denmark then get it at olsens in solvang, california. they are right on mission dr. on the west side of town.
