Three things I liked: Rooms and public areas are beautifully decorated in an eclectic ethnic style.
The downtown location allows travelers to be car free but within walking-distance of fun stuff.
The mini-bar -- with its organic snacks, performance drinks and products from philanthropic manufacturers -- is a snapshot of modern-day guilt-free junk food.

Expectations were exceeded

My husband and i were about to leave for santa barbara, and lo and behold, we saw the article about the canary, the hotel we had booked for two nights, starting that very night. the hotel is beautiful, the rooms were perfectly maintained, the location is perfect, and the service was excellent. we did not ask for a sewing kit, which seemed to be a major concern relating to service issues in the review, but our expectations were exceeded at the canary!
