Jalama Beach County Park is on the coast, north of Santa Barbara and south of Vandenberg Air Force Base. The park has 98 campsites, each with a fire pit, picnic tables and access to bathrooms, showers and running water.
Campsites are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Park officials say Jalama Beach is usually full in June, July and August. Weekends in May and September are also popular. They advise that people show up on Sunday afternoons to claim a campsite for the following week.
DRIVING
From Los Angeles, drive north on U.S. 101 for about 130 miles, then take California 1 toward Lompoc for about 14 miles. Turn left on Jalama Road for about 13 miles to the park.
