What's new: A new Westin has arrived as a $30-million redo of what was the Argent Hotel. The 676 rooms and suites have contemporary decor and flat-screen TVs. Ducca, a new restaurant and bar, is set to open June 17, 2007.

LAT Editor's note: Here's an old Frommer's review of the former Argent -- the location critique still applies.

Newest starwood hotel in sf

Posted by JBonds007  from Los Angeles, CA  on January 8, 2008

Since my last review on 7/28/07, i have had the opportunity to stay at this hotel now under the westin marque. this hotel lives up to the westin standard while bringing a fresh look to the former argent hotel. the only thing i miss from the former hotel is the piano bar, but the lounge is equally as impressive. great place to stay on business or leisure in the city and i plan to return.

Great hotel as the former argent hotel

Posted by JBonds007  from Palos Verdes, CA  on January 8, 2008

[originally posted july 28, 2007] my wife and i loved the hotel when it was formerly known as the argent hotel. it was a little known secret in sf that was close to union square and shopping while offering a art deco flare. now that the hotel is owned by starwood, we'll have the benefits of using points to stay at the hotel but will miss the unique style of the argent as a "one-off" hotel
