The Kimpton Boutique Hotels' most luxurious downtown property occupies the top five floors of a refurbished 1907 landmark office building. As the group's most refined boutique property, the Art Deco-inspired interior designed by Cheryl Rowley features rooms with an updated twist on 1930s modern design -- artful, understated textural elements such as emerald-tone velvets, fine woods, and raffia. Pretty hip but can be borderline seedy at night

Posted by hsleeny  from Irvine, CA  on February 25, 2007

I stayed here for work during a week night in november 06. the rooms are nicely updated with modern decor and they're huge compared to many downtown sf hotels. however, i stepped out around midnight to buy a toothpaste and found number of homeless people and drunken youths on the corner. all in all, a good hotel but somewhat too close to the seedy tenderloin area.
