I believe the review by tara in orange ca is incorrectly posted to this venue. she is speaking about the company called idyllwild cabin rentals, not to be confused with idyllwild vacation rentals.
i have contacted idyllwild vacation rentals (both by phone and email) to discuss my cabin rental options, and on both occasions customer rep gloria was professional, courteous and service oriented. i have not booked a cabin rental yet, but my initial experience with idyllwild vacation rentals has been positive.

Worst customer service ever!

I would never recommend anyone going to idyllwild cabin rentals. i love going to idyllwild but in this instance, my experience was awful. as a customer service representative myself, i find that the number one success of any company, is their ability to provide excellent customer service. i was however, told never to contact this company again, after requesting to cancel a reservation due to a breach in the original agreement. this response was very offensive considering, i wasn’t the one in breach of the contract.
i signed a contract saying i had until 15 days prior to the date of arrival to pay the remaining balance in full. regrettably, most of the people who said they could join us for the sylvan playhouse, backed out, so rather than cancel my reservation, i requested to downsize to a smaller cabin. at this point, martha, the manager of idyllwild cabin rentals, spoke with my boyfriend josh over the phone and told him that i had to pay the balance due in full, when just one day prior, martha told me i had until july 24 to pay the balance. she told josh she was tired of working on this order and just wanted to get it done. her tone was rather impatient and aggravated, so i was told. she later emailed me something totally different, saying that she was doing me a favor by not charging me an additional fee of $25 to move the cabin but that in order to get this deal, i had to pay $310 today.
because this is a breach of the actual contract i signed, i decided to cancel the reservation and make reservations with woodland park manor, where we normally stay and have never had any problems. martha also advised me that the owners are the ones that asked her to personally tell me, never to contact them again for future reservations. i wrote a letter to the owner rob muir and he never responded. obviously rob doesn't value his customers as i value mine.
i frequently visit idyllwild at least three times a year myself, i also know another couple that travels there often and i recently referred my entire family to stay in idyllwild for a reunion. i send a lot of business up the mountain. i am totally offended by the way i was treated after requesting to make a small change to my reservation.
another thing about this rental company is that they charge you for everything, right down to towel service. if you want a no hassle place to stay in idyllwild, i recommend woodland park manor, where the customer service is excellent!
i cannot believe this but after writing a few reviews, the owner robert muir used the number at the bottom of my email to him, to call and harass me at work. he had the nerve to ask to speak with the owner of my company. this guy is out there. steer clear consumers!
