South Coast Plaza, one of the most upscale shopping complexes in the world, is so big that it's a day's adventure unto itself. This beautifully designed center is home to some of fashion's most prominent boutiques, including Emporio Armani, Chanel, Alfred Dunhill, and Coach; branches of the nation's top department stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom; and outposts of the best high-end specialty shops like Williams Sonoma, l.a. Eyeworks, and Rizzoli Booksellers. The multidimensional mall is also home to many impressive works of modern art, and snacking and dining options are a cut above as well--among the 40 or so restaurants scattered throughout are Wolfgang Puck Cafe, Morton's of Chicago, Ghirardelli Soda Fountain, Planet Hollywood, and Scott's Seafood Grill.
