Why so expensive?

I've stayed at hotels all over the world and for the life of me i don't understand why this room cost me almost $300 a night. i was looking for somewhere to take a weekend getaway for my wife and i. i figured we stay within driving distance and use the savings from the airfare we didn't spend on the hotel accomodations. the hotel is very old as evident by the furniture, tv, and general wear and tear of the room. the tv was and old crt screen! there was no in room dining/room service. two weeks before i stayed at the metropole i stayed at the marriott casamagna in puerto vallarta, mexico and the room and service was 3x better for less than half the price. the one good thing is that this hotel is walking distance to all the shops, bars, and restauarnts. come to catalina if you are looking to relax. don't come to catalina if you are looking for nightlife or entertainment. the bed was very confortable and the hotel was quiet.
