What started as a countrified little amusement park with a couple of relatively tame roller coasters in 1971 has been transformed by Six Flags into a thrill-a-minute daredevil's paradise called The Xtreme Park. Located about 20 to 30 minutes north of Universal Studios, Six Flags Magic Mountain is one of the only ones out of the 38 Six Flags parks that is open year-round. The 17 world-class roller coasters (more than any other place in the world) make it enormously popular ...

Much improved

Posted by Skip  from Sherman Oaks, CA  on July 28, 2008

I have gone to this park since its opening in 1971. even at my present age i love thrill rides. (hey, if mariah carey can ride tatsu, anyone can!) x was a stunning addition, but had aged badly in a short time. (getting rougher as time passed.) but since the purchase of six flags by the current owners, and after the rumors of demolition for real estate have passed, the improvements have been simply astonishing. i was invited to a "coaster fan" day up there deep into the new ownership, and the cleanliness was the first thing i noticed upon entering the park. that was followed by presentations done by park management (we're talking presidents, vps, not "hacks") guaranteeing that this park was on the fast track to its full recovery to the glory days (prior to gangs, violence, filth, etc ruined it). i was so impressed i upgraded to a season pass, have been back a few more times this year, so far, so good! if i had written this review 3 years ago, i would've given no stars. (example: to be cost-effective running only one train per coaster, making small lines take hours.) now i give a very-deserved 4-stars across the board. keep up the great work. and hopefully those out there who went there during it's bad times will rethink about going, especially for tatsu, the most terrifying and exhilerating coaster i've ever ridden. (take it from someone who, back in 2002, flew to competitor cedar point park in ohio just to ride the tallest etc coaster at that time, millenium force.)
