Update ListingEditor's note: The 40/40 Club is scheduled to close in Sept. 2008 and will re-open as a race and sports book later in 2008.
At a cost of $20 million, rapper and music industry mogul Jay-Z's newest venture may be the most costly sports bar and lounge in the world.
Located inside the Venetian's new Palazzo Tower, the 24,000-square-foot venue is equipped with 85 plasma screen TVs, five 40-foot bars and five VIP rooms, making it more of a sports bar on steroid...

Terrible food, terrible service, waitresses trying to scam you out of $3 for extra tip.

Horrible service and shady staff.

My friends and i had just arrived in vegas on a saturday morning and since we didn't want to miss the fight that was going to be on later that night we ask the concierge at our hotel what was a good place to hang out and catch it on big screen. he recommeded the 40/40 club at the palazzo and also said we could get our own "reserved" rooms. we thought it was a great idea until we got there. they showed us to our room and started taking down our drinks. i looked the menu over and thought to myself, "these prices are a bit high". i ordered a drink anyways and since it was about dinner time we ordered some food to tie us over until we got out of there. what we ordered was a moderately price platter of food. what we got was rubbery shrimp, egg rolls (the cheap kind you get at the frozen food section), and hockey pucks (crab cakes). we were all hungry so we choked it down regardless. the waitress comes back about 10 minutes later and asked us to pay for the bill as she was leaving for the rest of the night. what happened after that is a huge mess. the waitress got our order wrong. then when we tried to talk to the manager about resolving what happened he wouldn't correct the bill. he comp'ed us a round of drinks which was nice of him, but we still ended up shelling out almost $700.00 for bad food. then what made it worse they tried to slap a $75.00 minimum charge per person after shift change. we argued our point and they didn't press the issue any further. i saw them do the same shell game to almost every single part that was sharing the supposed "reserved" room. i chuckled a little bit when i heard a younger gentleman exclaim "does jay-z know you're running his club to the ground?" as he stormed out with his lady friend.
i was absolutely disgusted with this club by the end of the night and would not inflict this club and its staff to my worse enemies.
