Overall, great value.

While it's off the strip, the rio has plenty of its own action to keep you occupied. the weekend "show in the sky" is a must-see. the irish pub, mcfadden's, is a hidden gem worth visiting. and of course, the rooms are spacious and comfortable.

the only quibble i have with the hotel is that the rooms need a little updating. otherwise, the rio's probably the best value anywhere near the strip.
