Magic lamps? Moroccan waterfronts? All dead. Today's Aladdin is Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Vegas (a lobby view, above), which just had its grand opening. The genie's touch can be seen in flowing floor-to-ceiling Swarovski-crystal designs, clean clubby lines in the casino and a celluloid celebrity focus (think your own private memorabilia museum by your bed) plus the icons of mid-Wilshire as your sustenance -- Koi, Pink's, Trader Vic's and a "Miracle Mile" mall.

Very hip

Posted by vegas_maniac  from Los Angeles, CA  on June 28, 2008

Booked a room for $59 from priceline. the view was great, right across from bellagio's fountains (11th floor). interior rooms are very cool and chic. bathrooms redone, very roomy and elegant. large rooms, nice plasma tv on walls. this place is a mix between hard rock and the wynn.

overall, nice place--a welcome addition to the strip.

The worst ever! (this site doesn't have anything but "like it" stars to choose from) between a group of 5 booked rooms, 2 of us were over-charged at the spa to the tune of $420 (check your credit card charges when you get home), 3 were promised (when reserving the hotel- direct $279/night room) but did not get an upgraded room, and 2 of us at a group meal at koi restaurant were never served our dinners! (and the "would you like it to go" attitude didn't help ease the $330 bill). the hotel smells like the la brea tar pits and the every-changing color scheme is a bad out-of-sync color matching recreation of the light show at lax. we're also sorry to mention the upgraded hallways of gunmetal grey and red should-have-left- it- in- the -1980's color scheme. (if the decorator could have put shoulder pads on the headboard he/she would have.) absolutely skip this hotel and if you want the same quality for a better price, check out the golden nugget. the location isn't as central, but you get your money's worth over there. the only good thing about the hotel stay was finding out that sly stallone is much taller and more handsome in person than on screen.
