With its extensive fish and lobster specialties, Nick's is the restaurant for seafood lovers with upscale tastes. It's a bit of a time warp (extravagant '80s), and the atmosphere is unremarkable, but you will find first-rate seafood and professional service from crisp, formally clad servers. Come here for the classics: bouillabaisse, Alaskan crab legs, lobster tail (prepared six different ways), and fresh fish in a medley of preparations. Meat lovers can order rack of lamb...

A bit past its prime

Posted by hsleeny  from Irvine, CA  on January 3, 2008

Went to nicks' fish market for christmas eve dinner. overall, the experience was ok, but came away thinking you get exactly what you pay for there and not really the best bang for the buck. to be fair, we had the $35 prix-fixe christmas dinner with a soup (lobster bisque), main (ribeye) and dessert (bread pudding). the food was just ok, but i saw waiters passing by with much tastier looking dishes for people who were paying full price for them ($30 - 50 for steaks and fish). granted, this is the price you pay at most 'nice' restaurants in waikiki, but we may have paid another 10 bucks for a more 'equitable' prix-fixe meal. all in all, the experience was ok, and the service was excellent but there are probably better seafood places with better bang for the buck. hsleeny - lat staffer
