Alan Wong is one of Hawaii's most sought-after chefs, but the service at his bustling eatery has often suffered because of his popularity. Long waits in front of the elevator have angered many. Still, worshipful foodies come from all over the state, drawn by the food -- which is brilliant -- and a menu that is irresistible. The 90-seat room has a glassed-in terrace and open kitchen. Sensitive lighting and curly koa wall panels accent an unobtrusively pleasing environment -...

Best food on oahu

Posted by hawaiiaddict  from East Hampstead, NH  on January 25, 2009

Hands down the best food. get the chinatown duck risotto if it is on the menu, if not the mac. nut crusted lamb chops are amazing. if you drink, try the mango melange au trois, a frozen concoction which i could have as desert. not cheap, but worth every penny.

Good food, bad service - at those prices!

Posted by Afandrews777  from Anaheim Hills, CA  on May 2, 2007

Don't get me wrong, the food at roy's is awesome, but the service stinks! we made the mistake of coming in on a friday night with a reservation and ordering from the prix fix menu. i guess that was a tip off to the waiter that his tip was going to be bad, although we would have tipped well. after our entrees, our waiter gave us the dessert drink menu and we did not see him again for over 35 minutes. my husband had to actually get up and go over to him to remind him that still had not gotten our desserts. ten minutes later the manager came over and tried to offer us two desserts for our wait. well, i think the waiter could have come over earlier to say that the desserts would be out shortly, sorry for the wait, but that never happened. we were disappointed in the way that roy's handled this situation and will not return.
