They hadn't. Much.
Oh, they have fancier names. The Manele Bay Hotel is now the Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay. Its sister hotel, the Lodge at Koele, is now the Four Seasons...

The amazing lodge at koele, lanai
Posted by overtheocean from Honolulu, HI on October 5, 2008
We went over for 3-days, 2 nights, as a quick getaway from oahu, a "girls' retreat." the hotel staff was amazinging generous and genuine in their care and hospitality. we arrived early, were checked into our room six-hours early from the lounge in the great hall (no waiting in lines!), were treated well from arrival to departure. we signed up for the "transportation" so that we did not rent a car just to get to the hotel and back to the airport. we were greeted with an orchid lei, hot towel, and cold pineapple juice upon arrival. we used all the services: the fitness center, business center, swimming pool, hot tub, walking paths, great hall morning coffee.
we attended church at the kalokahi o ka malamalama church at on the lodge grounds. it is a small local congregation with service including the hawaiian language as well as english. we became a part of their ohana (family) just by being there that morning.
we walked the property including a visit to the horse stables and talked to staff members keola and loki. they were generous with their time as we stayed for about 20 minutes of conversation.
as we waited for the return shuttle on sunday evening, a staff person handed bottles of cold water as a courtesy while we waited. we were treated so very well that we were rejuvenated as though we had been on a two-week vacation.
i have only good things to say about our weekend. aloha!
