One of Kauai's most splendid examples of kamaaina architecture, Gaylord's is the anchor of a 1930s plantation manager's estate on a 1,700-acre sugar plantation. You'll enter a complex of shops, galleries, and a living room of Hawaiian artifacts and period furniture. Quiet dinner at a plantation accompanied by feral chicken

Posted by hsleeny  from Irvine, CA  on March 26, 2007

This restaurant is located directly inside an old sugar plantation. when you walk in, you're greeted by a lovely host and a flower lei. i've eaten here for dinner and brunch - dinner is a better value, and more romantic for sure. you are seated in a porch-like setting overlooking the silent plantation garden with only light provided by the candle on your table. food is pretty good but not the best on kauai, but the service is great. beware the roaming band of feral chickens - they may just hop over to the foot of your table seeking crumbs.
