I'm writing this review while sitting in the resort — it's raining outside. it's rained heavily for the past four days, but then again, this is one of the wettest islands on the planet.
as for the resort price, the times reviewer says $800 per night for a studio villa, the three-hour, high-pressure sales pitch we just heard from the sales staff said, $600 per night, the westin web site currently says $285 and we responded to a promo package for only $200 per night. take your pick.
considering the beautiful location and the fact that it sits close to the beach, but with zero beach access, nice but mediocre landscaping and only one restaurant, this place is absolutely not worth $800, $600 or even $300 per night. at best, this is a $250 per night resort.
the service, however, is great, the staff is helpful (almost too helpful), the small kitchen, washer/dryer and free internet service in every room is great. and yes, complimentary umbrellas.
my best description of this property is that it reminds me of a suburban-style apartment complex that just happens to be on the wet side of kauai.
bottom line: at $250 per night for a studio room, i'd rate it a nice place and a reasonable deal. for $800 per night, well, you've been warned.

Outstanding - get it if you can!

My wife and i bought into this vacation ownership opportunity 2 years ago and just made our first visit...the facility is simply amazing. i heard about the promo rates and also heard they were selling out very quickly...if you can get in, don't hesitate. both the small and large room configurations have complete kitchen's so you can save a ton of money buy cooking what you want when you want as well. extremely comfortable and very family oriented...we took our new 9 month old and the staff even sent up a "heavenly crib" that our daughter loved almost as much as the kids pool with the water slide and fake turtles. you still have access to the princeville resort beach and facilities (except for their pool) and the shuttles take you to either the prince or maliki golf courses...i played the prince course and i'm not sure i'll ever be able to play anywhere again...it's amazing. go visit this property...you won't regret it!
cheers,
dan
