By lihue harbor but there are better hotels

My wife and i stayed here in may 2006. it was right after the big flood / landslide in lihue, so the hotel was still undergoing construction but the for the most part, it was in good shape. the hotel has towers overlooking an extensive, lagoon-like pool. it's very resort-like, but wouldn't call the place idyllic. all the cruise liners pull in to the lihue harbor and dumps a boat load of people into nearby restaurants and shops on a daily basis. overall, not too bad but you can spend similar kind of money down in poipu and get better value.

As a whole, better than the sum of its parts

My wife and i stayed here for our honeymoon and, once we got over our severe disappointment with our room (best western-quality, view of an air conditioning tower, but with a great bed) and started to explore the grounds, our satisfaction level grew. the huge pool area was nice, as was the semi-private beach. there are five restaurants on site, our favorite being the italian place. we had a car and drove all over the island (easily our favorite of the chain) but it always was nice to arrive back at 'home' to unwind and relax.
