Update ListingJust when you've started to think you're in pretty good shape, along comes a saddle to prove you wrong. Kauai's dramatic scenery can be counted on to keep you distracted long enough to finish the ride, and some routes are further sweetened with waterfall swims or beachcombing.
Price Range: $80 and up horseback tour

Great trail ride

As a part-time texas wrangler, i've got high standards for horse activities. while insurance rules (similar to those i live under at home) prevent trot or lope, the ride had sufficienctly good scenery, plus a swim at a waterfall, to divert my attention away from the fact they would not let me work my horse. horses were not as dull as usual for nose-to-tail trail rides, but this wasn't a nose-to-tail trail ride. horses were surprisingly responsive, well cared for. wrangler eileen still clearly enjoyed her work (and who wouldn't in kauai!). in all, one of the best tourist-class trail rides i've ever experienced. they run a good show at the princeville ranch. take the 4-hour ride. (the "picnic" isn't much to brag about, but the rest is worth it.)
