You'll need a spirit of adventure and not a little romance to truly connect with deetjen's. a cobble of quaint cabins nestled on a babbling brook that runs between the toes of a redwood canyon, it embodies rustic comfort and a quirky allure. you need to go with someone you love - or someone you want to seduce! - to really "get" its appeal. choose a room away from the restaurant (it gets noisy in the morning) and away from the inn's entrance (the comings and goings distract from the ambiance). two of my favorite rooms are castro cabin and the new room (or is it the champagne room? i get their names mixed up - it's the room with the full-length window in the bathroom overlooking the creek). be sure to peek inside the rooms when you're there so you can pick out your own favorite. the restaurant is quite good, featuring organic and locally grown food.
