Not perfect, but close

Posted by joejagent  from Los Angeles, CA  on November 30, 2008

I wanted to be there opening weekend, the first to spend a night in the bungalow and sleep in the bed. we were greated by an array of staff looking happy to see us. a tour was given as our room was being "made perfect." we were then escorted to the bungalow and gazed at the pacific as staff unloaded the car and brough in the luggage. the place is beautiful. lots of nice touches that make a big difference. ok, so they had microwave popcorn and no microwave, the sprayer in the bathtub leaked all over, and at the restaurant it took a half hour to get cream for the coffee, but the scallops were great and the kobe (usa) steak was incredible. they made major errors on the closing bill, and staff still needed to learn all of what they offer, but for the first few days it was 99% good, and i am not easy to please.

This place is awe-inspiring

Posted by maddinm  from Beverly Hills, CA  on November 27, 2008

After all the hype i had to go and see this new resort and needed to get away. i drove down the 405 and was plesently suprised that there was light traffic (beyond lax) i pulled into the motor court and thought i had been transported to italy. i thought the resort would be fancy and like other big hotels kind of un-inviting, but i found it to be elegant and the opposite so inviting. the resort is just a magical place, the people/staff are like old friends who just genuinely want to help. i had coffee at the caffe and i swear it was the best cup i have had in years. i wish i lived on the hill and could come down daily for my jolt and then off to work. i think it will have to be a monthly treat. i spa'd and sprawlled on my terrace and just looked at the blue ocean a stones throw away. i was a million miles away from the hectic hollywood grind, but i knew i could be home in an hour...it was great. could i change anything? i'm sure i could nit pick, but there wouldnt be much, the place is awe-inspiring and just a drive away. i loved it...
