Zonder – a new, easy vacation rental website

Zonder New York PageI need accommodations in New York City the first week of February, but am discouraged by the star-level of hotels you get for spending more than $200/night. Zonder, the new website for finding and booking vacation rentals, lightens some of my research woes.

Unlike other vacation rental sites such as Rentalo, Zonder lets you book in real time, just like hotel websites. Destinations include Vail, Colorado; Lake Tahoe; Kauai, Hawaii; Costa Rica; and San Diego to name a few.

Zonder offers private homes, condos, cabins and villas. I found a few apartment options under $200/night (pre-tax and fees) in Manhattan and the Upper East Side. With more space, a kitchen and other amenities such as Internet access often included in the price, it sounds a lot better than a hotel. You get a description and photos of the property, a list of amenities and a map of the property’s location. If you need to show it to a travel partner, go ahead and e-mail it on.

Deal: Use promo code “BeyondHotels” during the checkout process to get 10% off (up to $250) a vacation home rental when you book before Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, 2008. Note: Try their 24-hour chat service if you need help.Caveat: The site is in Beta. This usually means that there could be quirks, and initial content and potential kinks are still being worked out. If you have any questions, just give them a call.
