Look out, there’s a new travel magazine in town. A link to Everywhere crossed my IM window today and it definitely looks cool. I haven’t seen anything like it and must admit that at first glance I thought it was done by Lonely Planet. They are a sponsor but the magazine and website are published by Paul Cloutier and 8020 Publishing, that also puts out JPG Magazine — the Magazine of Brave New Photography. What’s cool about Everywhere is you can help write the magazine.
Everywhere Magazine also has a social networking counterpart where travelers can upload their own photos and articles about places all over the world. The best work gets published in the next issue (six issues/year). It’s fine if you just want to be a voyeur, click on different places, read articles, or browse other traveler profiles to get inspiration for your next trip — or dare I say — the next travel article for all you aspiring travel writers out there.
The first issue covers both the street life of Tokyo as well as the exotic side of Tucson. Fun features that will be in each issue include local flavor, roadside attractions, the view from your hotel window, souvenirs, perfect moments and more. I think the Everywhere endeavor is a perfect hybrid for society’s Web 2.0 media appetite and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy. I’ve already signed up for the website.
