Yosemite National Park travel: $99 fall cabin deal at Evergreen Lodge

Does the PBS Ken Burns series “The National Parks: America’s Best Idea” have you itching for a hike in Yosemite? Do you want to see the valley at sunset or sit by the fireplace at the Ahwahnee before it closes for a big remodel? If you answered yes, or were already researching a trip to Yosemite, check out this fall deal from Evergreen Lodge brought to you by Hotwire’s Travel-Ticker.

The lodge has a history dating back to 1921, but the property was renovated and expanded in 2005. This summer they added 24 more cedar cabins spread out among towering old growth trees. Valued for its serene location about a mile outside the park’s northwestern side, near the Hetch Hetchy entrance, it offers numerous outdoor activities. Or you can just relax with the family during a night of s’mores at the Plaza fireplace.

Deal: The Travel-Ticker special offers 40% off fall rates. Get a “New Traditional Cabin” starting at $99 per night Sunday through Thursday nights through Oct. 28. Just use the rate code “T09C”. I was able to find the deal available by booking online Oct. 26-28. When I tried Oct. 12, all that was left was a two-bedroom family cabin for $159 per night.

Caveat: Blackout date Oct. 11

  1. Ray Anderson Says:

Evergreen Lodge is the closest accomodation to Yosemite National Park’s Hetch Hetchy Valley, the 2nd Yosemite Valley.

The fall is a good time to visit since the summers are very hot at this lower elevation valley and there is no shade along the hiking trail.

Seeing Hetch Hetchy may inspire you to join the growing list of citizens demanding the removal of the dam submerging the Valley. The City of San Francisco has the water rights and uses its muscle to prevent the public from enjoying the Valley, by preventing facilities and threatening the public with numerous No Trespassing, etc. signs.
