Washington, D.C.: Stay at the historic Hay-Adams like the Obamas

Hay-Adams

The spotlight on Washington, D.C., today has gotten me thinking that I’d like to take a trip to our nation’s capital soon. I’ll let the city recover from the however-many-million pairs of shoes stomping through it right now, but I’d love to gaze at the White House, explore the Smithsonian museums, stroll the well-reputed sculpture garden at the National Gallery of Art, sample the fare at Amsterdam Falafelshop (for other must-dos, read “See Washington, D.C., like a local“).

And where to stay when partaking in such a venture? Why, the historic Hay-Adams, natch. The Layfayette Square landmark hotel recently hosted our new president and his family, after all, and the Obamas do seem to be people with good taste.

Deal: The price tag on a Hay-Adams’ “Winter in Washington” package starts at $399 per night (pre-tax) for stays Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday nights. Along with your room, you’ll receive a full breakfast for two, an upgrade to the next available room category and free valet parking.

But for a room a la carte without the extras, you can find a nightly “special promotion” rate of $299 (pre-tax) through the hotel’s booking system.

Connect/disconnect: Rooms are equipped with complimentary Wi-Fi.
