Wanted: Romantic oceanview couple’s getaway

The Chicago Tribune has their eye on California’s Central Coast. Specifically, the view from the FogCatcher Inn. But you don’t have to be a land-locked Midwesterner to appreciate our stunning Pacific Ocean views.

Deal: Romance packages are $369 weekdays, and include a king suite with a full ocean view and fireplace, half a dozen roses delivered to your room, a bottle of champagne and $40 gift certificate to Brambles Restaurant in downtown Cambria. The same package with a garden view is $249. Weekend packages for the full view are $399. Tack on an extra 10% for taxes and fees.

Why Go: It’s an attainable getaway. Cambria, San Luis Obispo, Pismo and Avila Beach are just a few hours drive from Los Angeles. The FogCatcher Inn is right near Hearst Castle, not far from the Paso Robles wineries.

Why Not: This is a cozy retreat for folks who like things homey. If the way you roll is more inline with a Kors Hotel, think twice before booking this comfy sea-side inn.

Caveat: Summer is high season, prices are up a bit.
