Virgin America to airlines: Can you beat LAX to Seattle for $59?

Virgin America mood lighting

OK, Virgin America didn’t actually say that out loud, but they might as well have with their newest sale. Get fares between San Diego (SAN), Los Angeles (LAX),  Las Vegas (LAS) and Seattle (SEA) for $59 each way, pretax. Or if you think the only proper way to enjoy a Virgin America flight is to take it across the country (so you can watch a full movie) — check out Virgin’s LAX-JFK fares for $109 each way.

What’s the catch? To get these low fares you must fly on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday.

When: Book one day in advance today to Feb. 8 for travel to be completed by April 1, 2009.

Caveat: Has the sale stalled the site? When I was on the Virgin America website this afternoon it was moving pretty slow.

After losing $175 million last year, it looks like Virgin America is desperate for cash. Why else would it offers such rediculous fares? My advice; buy your ticket with a credit card because Virgin America is not long for this world.

  2. Don Jr. Says:

Actually yes, Alaska is offering tickets from LGB for $119 AFTER tax ROUND TRIP to Seattle, for flights not on Friday or Sunday. That’s actually even cheaper and with no date restrictions.

From LAX it’s $139 which is just barely more expensive.

  3. John Hart Says:

Save $75 on airfare but possibly lose your baggage.
I fly Virgin America for the first time a few months ago.Worst flight experience I ever had!
I had to wait an hour at the ticket counter for the computers to work. The connecting flight in SF was delayed 3 hours. The in flight entertainment system didn’t work and they lost my baggage! I have tried to contact customer service for two months in regards to my lost baggage which still hasn’t been recovered with no luck! They never answer their phone! Recently I received a check in the mail form Virgin with no explaination for $120! Talk about bad service!
