Virgin America: Luxe seats for tall people

Virgin America logoVirgin America begins their service to SFO today. Last night I was at a dinner party and asked if anyone had heard about the new Virgin America planes. Believe it or not, nobody had. Next I asked them if they had any plans to travel to San Francisco, New York or D.C. in the near future. Half the table said yes. So, I told them about the introductory rates and especially about the cost of the first-class tickets. The tallest person at the table, a former New York Knicks player, got quite excited. “That sounds great,” he said. “I usually buy a whole row on Jet Blue just so I can have enough room.”

Deal or no deal?
If you buy more than one coach seat on a flight to give yourself added room or comfort, you might want to try the Virgin America first-class seat. One first-class seat on Virgin America from Los Angeles to New York (JFK) costs $389 each way, or $778 round-trip (pre-tax). Three seats on JetBlue from Long Beach to New York (JFK) costs $832 (post-tax).
