I’m at San Francisco (SFO) just above Gate A12 where the media are gathering before boarding Virgin America’s inaugural, by-invitation-only flight VX868, to its new destination — San Diego (SAN).
[Introductory coach fares start at $39 one-way, plus taxes and fees, for travel through March 12, 2008, with a minimum seven-day advance purchase. First-class fares start at $149 each way, with three-day advance purchase.]
I hope to meet Sir Richard Branson at some point in the next few hours and am happy to consider your questions when I do. I’d love to ask about the bio-fuel test he’s doing this year, any whispers about Virgin Galactic, where he likes to vacation and maybe see if there are any hints as to when Virgin America will add in-flight Wi-Fi.
The question is, when I meet him, what do I call him?
Sir Richard Branson, Mr. Branson, Superhero Richard Branson — or dare I just say, “Hi, Richard.”
How’s this, “Sir Richard, love your work …” Firm handshake included, of course.
I will be using Twitter to report live from preboarding and the post-flight party in San Diego. It’s free to sign up at twitter.com/latimestravel. Send me direct Twitter messages to stay in touch.

Jen:
How cool you’re reporting on Virgin America’s entry into San Diego via this blog. Thought you might like to know of another blog planning to cover this event. San Diego International Airport employees have a blog called the Goodwill Ambassablog at http://www.ambassablog.com, and Ryan, one of their “Goodwill Ambassabloggers,” as they call themselves, is going to post from the Virgin events in San Fran, San Diego and from aboard the inaugural flight. Maybe you’ll run into him! Looking forward to your postings.

Ask him about his private island. I was watching a re-run of Cribs and his own island was the most amazing thing I have ever seen (ranked #1 out of like 50). Oh, how I want to visit there.

Skybus just started service here at GSO in North Carolina. We love the low fares but would love to see the service of Virgin America. Are there any plans of Virgin service to the southeast by this summer?

Silly, but if we have the power to send a Space Shuttle into space, why can’t we reverse it?
Suck this problem out of the world into empty space??? to clean OUR worlds air?????Do you konw YOU are the only one that could look at this , stop looking in to space , and see how we could go there for help.

I live in New Mexico - very near the Space Port. I would like to open a computer support business in T or C. I heard Mr. Branson helps small business, woman-owned, entrepreneurs or “momentreprenuers” (I originally coined that term years ago!). How does one go about contacting him to apply for a business grant?

jen just go up and shake his hand and say Hi Richard and the latest buzz on Virgin Galactic is that we are due to start test flying the space launch system in the summer from Mojave!Richard recently did his flight training and pulled 6Gs in a centrifuge.

i have an idea to produce electricity without burning fuel in virtually everyplace. How or where do I contact the Virgin group or Mr Branson to tell him my idea. In advance; thank you from Jeffery Slavin.

Sir Branson
I listened to your conversation with Charlie Rose today. My suggestion to you is to contact The Coal Utilization Committee and click on Clean Coal. There was a trial run of a US Navy ship in Philadelphia. They showed a white flag with a lump of coal.

Dear Mr. Branson
Now that northern flooding, and southwest drought (Global Warming?),appear to be a new constant denominater in this country, why don’t we build a series of Aquaducts to move the water to where it is needed while generating hydro-electric along the way?
