I know there are some of you out there who still haven’t tried Virgin America. When you do, you’re going to say to yourself, why didn’t I try this sooner? I just took a split flight (because of time frames) from LAX to SFO on Virgin America and then SFO to LAS on Southwest. The difference was laughable. So this is one deal that I’ll be excited to take advantage of too.
Deal: Virgin America flights are on sale for travel through mid-December. Note there are extra charges for booking by phone and for selecting seats that have extra leg room. But they’ll let you know before you do.
Los Angeles (LAX) to San Francisco (SFO)
$39 each-way (pre-tax), $99 round-trip (after taxes)
Los Angeles (LAX) to Washington, D.C. (IAD)
$109 each-way (pre-tax), $249 round-trip (after taxes)
Los Angeles (LAX) to New York (JFK)
$129 each-way (pre-tax), $279 round-trip (after taxes)
Tip: Don’t forget flights including San Diego begin February 12, 2008.
When: Book by November 15 for travel through December 18, 2007. Blackout dates: November 21 and 25.
Contact: Virgin America, (877) 359-8474 (reservations by phone cost $5 extra)

After all the hype I decided to give Virgin America a try. I booked a flight to NYC in December and they called today to let me know they cancelled my flight. Apparently they couldn’t fill the planes so they eliminated a few flights. They booked me on a flight 3 hours later, which I couldn’t do. I complained and they offered NOTHING to help me out. No vouchers, no offers to put me on another airline…NOTHING. Just kept me on hold for a half hour. Of course, now the flights on the other airlines are way higher than when I booked. I would AVOID these guys until they work the kinks out. From my experience…they are just as bad as the rest of them.

Hi JTS,
I’m sorry you had an unpleasant booking experience. But I have to say that the in flight experience is still outstanding. I’ve been on Virgin America three times already.
