Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics tickets go on sale today

Vancouver Olympic/Paralympic Centre

If China was too far (and too expensive) of a trip to take to see the Olympics, why not consider a jaunt up to Vancouver, Canada, for the 2010 Winter Olympics? Tickets went on sale today and will continue to sell for five weeks through Nov. 7, 2008. Get ready to see events in figure skating, bobsleigh, ice hockey, luge, ski jumping, speed skating, all sorts of varieties of skiing and more.

Deal: The 2010 Vancouver Olympics website reports there will be 100,000 tickets for $25 and half of all tickets will cost less than $100. You can check the price of the tickets by sport or by day.

2010 Vancouver Olympics: Cypress Mountain

When to go: Here is the competition schedule.

Tip: If building a Winter Olympics event schedule is too daunting, consider purchasing an Olympic Experience Package. They are custom packages that act as samplers. Package prices start at $270 but after looking at the City OEPs, it looks like you’ll spend $300 to $500 for a package of three to four events.

How to buy tickets: There is a How to Buy section that explains the difference between Canadians buying tickets and the sale of International tickets, including U.S. residents and Canadian residents living in the U.S. I looked at CoSport, the website for U.S. residents to purchase on, and they said that packages would be available Oct. 10, 2008.

It is to bad that the Olympics is about money and not the athletes.
Put in for tickets to Nordic events that my daughter may be in and as it spans the whole 2wks of the Olympics ordered some tickets for the men’s Nordic event. Just notified I got one event for My daughter and two mens events all for 377 dollars. I would not have ordered any mens events if I had not thought we could get all tickets. The web site said low attendance venue and as I was only ordering two tickets for each assumed I would get them. Have friends that only got two tickets, when you are traveling 12 hours by car and incurring outrageous costs who is coming for one event.
Our youth work their hearts out and parents can’t even come and see them. I also was in Canada when the tickets were released to
Canadians and they had an interview with guys who purchased thousands of dollars worth of tickets and were now selling them on Craig’s list. Wow the Olympic spirit is alive and well

Their are other methods to get your hands on some event tickets. You will be able to find information on how to obtain tickets on http://www.vancouverolympicsguide.com a month before the start of the event.
    Go Canada!

I found a cruise ship on Expedia.ca that is going to be docked in North Vancouver for the Olympics. Looks like a great deal compared to everything else, your food is included and you get a shipboard credit.

    Says you have to arrive on Feb 10, 13, 16, 20, 24 or 27 and depart on Feb 13, 16, 20, 24, 27 or March 2nd.

Expedia had some other options too when I searched around. Some condos, some hotels even in downtown. I had to search a some different dates and longer stays for some to show.
