Vail Cascade is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the opening of Blue Sky Basin. To mark its celebration it’s offering 30% off and a third night’s stay for $10 when you book two consecutive nights. With their “Blue Sky, Great Buy” anniversary offer, rooms start at $109 on select dates during the 2009-2010 ski season for hotel rooms, based on availability. Vail Cascades is a AAA Four-Diamond resort that is part of the Destination Hotels & Resorts group. It has ski-in/ski-out access and an award-winning Aria Spa & Club with a large fitness center with free 10-minute shuttle service to Vail and Lionshead Villages.
Tested: When I had a look at dates on the website, I found rooms available Thanksgiving week from Wednesday-Sunday starting at $122 per night for a standard room in the Main Lodge. The weekend before Christmas, Dec. 19-21, the lowest rate was $299 per night. If you wanted to go the first weekend in December(4-7), standard rooms were $132 per night. These rates are pre-tax and fees. I had some questions about their non-refundable deposit and called the reservation number. What I found was great personal service and it was easy to get the total of the three days — after the third day discount. While you can book online, I strongly suggest calling if you want to know the exact amount of your bill after discount, taxes and fees. The three nights in December that I was checking on came to $346.
Note: The lowest deal rate is for a courtyard room which overlooks their parking lot, in the winter often decorated with Christmas trees and lights (pictured).
Tip: When I called, the reservationist also explained that they offer trip insurance for 7.5% of your stay, in my test case, $26. This way I could get the full amount refunded, minus the insurance, if I got the flu and couldn’t come or had other medical reasons. Ask about the full restrictions or details on the website.
When: For travel beginning Nov. 19 until April 17. Blackout dates: Dec. 26-Jan.2; Jan. 19-21; Jan. 27-Mar.20; April 8-10
