USC linemen afraid of Disneyland rides

USC quarterback John David Booty rides Disneyland’s Matterhorn with Trojan coach Pete Carroll. While USC quarterback John David Booty enjoyed the Matterhorn Bobsleds and Mad Tea Party spinning cups, a few of his beefy lineman whined like sissies about Disneyland’s oh-so-scary rides.

“Some of our guys have never been to Disneyland,” Booty told the Riverside Press-Enterprise. “For me, it never gets old.”

Both the USC and Fighting Illini football teams visited the Anaheim theme park on the day after Christmas as part of the traditional buildup to the Rose Bowl.

Booty tried to talk Sedrick Ellis into riding the Tower of Terror over at Disney’s California Adventure but the 6-foot-2, 305-pound nose tackle flat out refused.

Illinois Coach Ron Zook rides Disneyland’s tea cups with his players.Trojan offensive tackle Sam Baker didn’t want any part of the Happiest Place on Earth either, saying amusement park rides give him vertigo: “I’m heading to Downtown Disney and going to the movies if I can.”

Illinois player J Leman tried to keep his focus on the task at hand rather than theme park thrills and fantasy.

“It’s all about football,” Leman told the Chicago Tribune. “It’s not sitting by Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, wondering if Aurora is going to come out to give you a kiss.”
