We’ve had some sincere, candid and enthusiastic comments this past week on post topics ranging from New York Taxis, flying on 9/11, Southwest mini skirt rules, surfing in Hawaii and the long lines for Disneyland rides. Here are some of the more memorable comments from the past week.
Southwest Airlines: Mini skirts & mini fare sales

Hurray for Mr Gary Kelly. Go miniskirts. As the mother of a flight attendant, I don’t like that my child has to be the fashion police. I do not like vulgar tee shirts and i mean the nasty vulgar writings on the shirt. That should be address before they ever get to the gate. What a great marketing tool.
Maui, Hawaii: Stay longer, surf more & save

learning to surf in Maui is like buying a ferrari to teach your teenage kid how to drive. totally excessive and completely unnecessary. stick with venice or manhattan beach first, before dumping money on a high-priced trip to hawaii.
Waiting for Disneyland’s Finding Nemo submarine ride?

I waited an hour in line with my five year old niece. Surprisingly, she was more than happy to wait in line just to see Nemo. We got on just as the fireworks started and honestly, by that point after being in the park for 9 hours I was happy to sit down for 14 minutes. The ride I found boring, but my niece seemed to really enjoy it. I liked the fact that it gave me a chance to relax and sit down, and watching my nice get excited is what the ride is all about. Bottom line, kids love it but I wouldn’t get on it again. Unless my niece wants to!
9/11/07 diary: A strange day to fly LAX to JFK

I flew Sept. 11 the JFK to LAX route in the afternoon. I think “surreal” is a good way to describe it. The airport seemed deserted, but the plane was full. In the afternoon there were no commerations or even mentions by airport staff or the pilot. I noticed TSA was checking IDs several times and the crew on my United flight was all male. My travel companion and I talked about it off and on. It was a great day to fly - uncrowded, lots of sunny weather over the Plains and probably the safest day to fly. I didn’t pick that day on purpose, but when I noticed the date I also didn’t hesitate. I remember all of those who gave their life that day and all those who continue to sacrifice for my freedom, and I must say, Tuesday, September 11th, 2007 was a truly beautiful day to fly across the Country and I am so incredibly grateful for that fact.
New York taxi dispatch: A backseat tale of 2 cabs
Jeffrey Allen Miller of Manhattan says:

If the city and cab companies were smart — neither of the two groups are though — they would forego this episode and instead work on rebuilding the cab fleets with alternative autos. Smart cars. Electric cars. Two seaters and four… There is room for anything smaller. Cabs for the majority of cases take one person from point X to point Y, and this does not require the size and energy of a modern sedan. Refitting old gas guzzling cars with new tech is pointless — why not prepare small cars with the gadgets and work out a deal to have 90% of the fleet replaced by 2009? Keep some vans for group travel, that is fine, but point is we need forward thinking leaders and ideas not big boy bureaucrat status quo. Less gas used, less street wear/tear ultimately saves that cabbie some dough and makes this city cleaner too.
