Tourists bite on ‘Twilight’ vampire tours of Forks, Washington

Fans of the hit movie “Twilight,” inspired by Stephenie Meyer’s vampire series, are swarming tiny Forks on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, where the novels are set, and checking out “Twilight”-themed tours, hotel packages and even food.
About 400 fans descended on Forks right after the movie premiered, said Mike Gurling, who runs the visitor center for the Forks Chamber of Commerce.
Tours of the town’s high school, police station and other “Twilight” sites are booked up through January, so Gurling said he may add more. Look for details on the chamber’s website, which has a whole section on the novel series, including a fun photo gallery and a map of key sites.
Oddly, none of the movie, mostly shot in Oregon, was filmed in Forks, Gurling said. Here are other “Twilight” tourist tidbits:

The View Point Inn in Corbett, Oregon, where the movie’s ending and prom scenes were filmed, offers “Twilight”-themed slumber parties ($175 per person), tours of film locations in and around Portland, Oregon, (starting at $99 per person) and dinners with “Twilight”-inspired dishes such as Bella Ravioli ($22, great with a Coke).
Kalaloch Lodge in Olympic National Park, about 35 miles south of Forks, offers a two-night “Twilight Package,” starting at $349, that includes a map of the novels’ settings, dinner for two and other extras.
Beyond Boundaries Travel, based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, offers “Twilight”-themed tours and events through its Fan Trips division.
Among them are a five-night, vampire-themed European tour (starting at $2,299 per person, double occupancy) and a six-night Vampire Baseball Adventure in Oregon and Washington (starting at $1,599 per person, quad occupancy). Jeannie Barresi, co-owner of Beyond Boundaries, said there are spaces available in these just-launched 2009 trips.

I would have to say that the movie was great, but the book was AWESOME.
Edward was as stunning and infatuating as I recall imagining him to be in the novel. I hope that New Moon is turned into a film as well, however I believe they should re-think the role of Bella.

I’m actually from Port Angeles (about an hour from Forks) and think it’s pretty cool that we’ve gotten this kind of exposure. I love the series and the movie was pretty good too :)

I wanted to read the book before I go see the movie with my kids. My daughter is trying to finish it now. The book was just awesome, I hope the movie is just as awesome. I didn’t want to see the movie before I read the book because the movie would ruin that for me. I have read Twilight and New Moon (during Thanksgiving week), can’t wait to read the other two books. Great author!!!

OMG I LOVE THE BOOOKK I JUST FINIHSED READING IT AND I AM CONTINUING ON WITH THE SECOND ONE NEW MOON! BUT i dont think i will be watching any of the movies just yett not until i am done with all 4 books because the movie tend to ruin the imagees that i have created previously while reading the book and i dont want the movie to change what i’ve already have.. so i guess watching it at after im done would be awesommee and if it is out of the movies i can always save it for the release of the DVD =D

lol the books are great. im on the 4 book already it is the biggest book ill ever read. my friend michie is so funny! after the movie she is like edrward is so HOt!!! my mom is just loling!!! Then i went 2 see it by myself without my friends and it was better the sencend time!!! The books is always better by the way!!

I thought that the movie was too chintzy on the meadow scene where Edward is supposed to sparkle like diamonds in the sun. In the movie, it looked more like he had some body glitter lotion on. They could have used CGI or some other method to enhance this scene.

ive read all the books and i thot the movie wuz gonna suck because they usually r after u read the book but the movie has made me even more obsessed with vampires! especially Edward and Jasper! they r soooooooo hot! jacob iz so ugly and i hate him! he thinks he shuld be with Bella but he iz soooo rong! i think i have OCD(obsessive cullen disorder)!

I LUV THIS MOVIE!!!! this is the best movie any one has ever made! the only thing i didnt lyk about it wuz that alot of stuff wuz left out lyk the blood type chapter wuznt in it. and jasper didnt get to say much and they didnt mention his powers! i agree with the ‘twilight’ person that jacob sux! and that i also have “OCD” lol!!!!!

I think all you edward lovers are wrong. I am clearly the one who is truly in love with him LOL. I havent seen the movie yet , it isnt released in Australia yet but there is only 9 days until its released and i am extremely excited! Robert Pattinson totally suits the role of Edward Cullen, from what ive seen in the previews, but i think that Kristen Stewart wasnt that good a choice for Bella Swan. That might be because im a tad bit jealous that she gets to kiss Robert Pattinson. Ok im lying im HEAPS jealous. I think i should have played Bella! LOL. But Yeesss i plan on marrying Robert & we will have the wedding like in “Breaking Dawn” I LOVEEEEEE HIM!!!

I didn’t read Twilight, but I saw the movie. My wife and I drove through the Olympic Peninsula and Forks — it is a beautiful place and there’s more reasons to go there other than to see where “Bella” and “Edward” hang out.

I absolutely loved the movie, but personally the movie could have been directed better. No offence to the director, but a lot of the major scenes were wrong but i still loved it, and the book are even more awesome than anthing i have ever read i can’t get enough of them.

I’m in love with the books! I also enjoyed the movie! I loved the cast! Robert Pattinson was just how I pictured Edward. Bella was different but I thought Kristen Stewart played Bella’s role really well. I can’t wait for them to make more movies! And i can’t wait for Midnight Sun to come out! I had to quick read the books a week before the movie came out! It went sooo fast!

I’ve only seen the film and 2 books read in 6 days, there were more than 1000 pages. I think the book is beautiful. The film could be turned Tevez, if the 2 is to get out. The rolls are super distributed I think it could be no better actor for this role will angagiert. in 1 hour, I still get a book and now it can hardly expect the 4 and comes on 14. Germany in February in the shop. There are still 22 days.

We found an even better tour than the ones in this article by forksadventures.com. They have an all-inclusive 5-day tour for $1,200 - includes food, very nice lodging, transportation, guides, and more. My daughter and I plan to go this summer!

When I first read the saga I was amazed and still am amazed! I could never believe that the movies could be amazing as well. Ever since I read the books and watched the movie I have been begging my parents to take me to Forks, Washington; Volterra or Rome, Italy; Romania; Juneau,Alaka; and so many other places that were mentioned in the book. I will always be grateful to Stephinie Meyers who inspired me to become a writer as well as the cast and crew who made the Twilight movie and are working on New Moon! Thank you all so so much!!!!! if u have never seen twilight then u are at a total disadvantage. i feel so so sorry for u. this is the best movie in the world.i can not wait for new moon i hane seen the trailer so many times i have memorized it . it is so cool. i will not wait until new moon comes out(jk i can but it is hard)OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The movie “Twilight” took me by surprise. The cinematography was very nicely done and carried the somber theme of the movie precisely and beautifully, scene after scene. The setting was definitely a character! The story line is captivating. The ideas of vampirism, impossible relationships, tragic love and overwhelming desire are refreshingly expressed in this story! (bravo to both the novelist and the screenwriter). I love the romantic characters of Edward and Bella. The actors did their best to play their roles. I will give great credit to Robert Pattinson. He was much more credible as a tormented young vampire who had never tasted human blood and hungered for the first time passionately after Bella’s, than was Kristen Stewart in portraying the heroine. I have not read the novels yet (and do not quite know if this is indeed Edward’s first time thirsting to that extent for human blood), but I hope that Kristen Stewart will bring more passion and expression into her role in the sequel. She was too automatic, too non-challant about dramatic situations that called for more emotion, and delivered her lines too fast most of the time. I am sure Kristen can do a better job:-)
