National Geographic Adventure has chosen their 50 Top Adventure Towns of 2007. The list of “Best Places to Live and Play” hits newsstands tomorrow, but you can get a sneak peek online. They chose one town per state and then categorized them by lifestyle in terms of where you could live out your adventure dreams, (Wilderness, Small Town, Mountain, Waterfront and City). Our nearby Bishop, California made it as a hot spot for “Top Mountain Towns.” Have a look at the list and let us know if you agree that these are the best places to live.
Here are the other hot spots:
Top Wilderness Towns: Homer, Alaska
Top Small Towns: Spearfish, South Dakota
Top Mountain Towns: Bishop, California
Top Waterfront Towns: Waimea, Hawaii (Oahu)
Top Cities: Chicago, Illinois
Believe it or not, the #1 adventure town on their 50 Top Adventure Towns list was the town that’s calling itself the “Entertainment Capital of the World” — Las Vegas.
Deal or no deal? Are these affordable and realistic towns to live in? Are they the kinds of places you go to retire, or where you go when you’re just starting out and can live on a smaller salary? Can a family of four realistically up and move to Bishop, Waimea or even Spearfish?
Do you agree with their choices? What towns would you rather see on the list?

I wonder if there is anything similar available for India. There’s a whole load of variety of locations available. I find Nat Geo projects often very interesting.
