Europe: Tom Hanks is back filming in Rome

On my way to Italian class this morning I saw Tom Hanks at the Pantheon.

I walked right between him and the camera. He’s in Rome to film part of “Angels & Demons,” the Ron Howard-directed prequel to “The Da Vinci Code.” His costar, Israeli-born actress Ayelet Zurer, was standing next to him.

I haven’t had such a jolt since the first time I saw the Coliseum. OK, that’s an overstatement; maybe since my first cafe doppia macchiato.

Then I spent two hours learning irregular Italian verbs.
