This weekend: New Orleans Jazz Fest

It’s not (quite) too late to grab a flight and head over to The Big Easy for Jazz Fest. CheapTickets still has flight + hotel packages available for the last weekend of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. You’ll pay the price for waiting until the last minute, but it still can be done.

Deals: You can still get a flight + 3 nights hotel package for this weekend via CheapTickets.com for less than $900. Expedia has discounted hotels available too, if you want to get there on your own. I found a hotel with availability Fri – Mon at an average of $107/night (before taxes).

Why Go: Some of the big names still to perform this weekend are John Mayer, ZZ Top, Counting Crows, Buckwheat Zydeco, John Legend, The Radiators, Steely Dan and local legend Harry Connick, Jr.

Why Not: Spontaneity isn’t your thang.

Caveats: I originally tried to use the Expedia.com promotion but they were all out of flights. This made their flight+ hotel package unavailable as the couldn’t find flights from the L.A. area to New Orleans Thursday, Friday or Saturday. I tried both online and by calling a representative. Regarding their hotel selecton, The St. James Hotel can’t be booked for fewer than seven nights.
