The Nines: Oregon’s new luxe hotel in downtown Portland with $99 intro rates

Downtown Portland, Ore., gets a new luxe hotel. Though I’ve only seen the photos on the website, I’m dying to stay there. It’s called the Nines and it’s a part of Starwood’s Luxury Collection. If you’ve been to Portland, you know that its downtown has great shopping and restaurants. The Nines is located on the upper floors of the historic Meier & Frank Building, with Macy’s on the lower level. If you haven’t been to Portland, know that you’re fine not to rent a car. You can take the Max Light Rail all the way in to Pioneer Square from the airport for $2.30 (40 minutes). Once downtown, the Max and streetcar are free.

Deal: They’re offering their base room, called the Superior room (pictured below), for $99 per night for the first 99 nights the hotel is open (until April 18). Shopping & dining tip: Step away from Pioneer Square and take a streetcar to the Pearl District, known for its art galleries, trendy boutiques and restaurants.
