Roundup: Taste of San Pedro; Long Beach Crawfish Festival; Southwest airfare discounts; budget travel tips

Long Beach Crawfish Festival

Good morning travelers! Can you believe it’s the weekend already? What are your plans? I like checking out The Guide on Friday to see if anything I’d like is going on. Here are some ideas.

Local | In addition to the fair and fiesta we mentioned yesterday, San Pedro is also having a shindig. The 20th annual Taste of San Pedro is this weekend. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children age 4-17.

On Saturday, sample some Louisiana-style crawfish at the Long Beach Crawfish Festival. Zydeco and New Orleans tunes will be playing too. Tip: Save money on tickets when you buy them online.

Airfare sale | Southwest is having a “California State Sale.” Most flights are $59 each way (pre-tax) but you can find a few routes for $49 each way out of San Diego (SAN), Ontario (ONT) and Orange County (SNA). Book by Aug. 7 for travel Sep. 3–Nov. 19, 2008. The downside is that you have to book 21 days in advance.

Budget travel | Sure, Viator sells guided tours, but it also recommends London’s Top 5 Walks.

Last-minute travel tips | This Just In discusses the most popular last-minute destinations and tips for online deals for the spontaneous traveler.
