‘Survivor 17′ in Gabon, Africa; CA gas prices up to $3.99; Virgin America 5-day sale

Good morning travelers! I hope you had a fun weekend. Let’s see what we have for you this morning.

Gas prices | What’s the latest price of gas and how will it change in the days leading up to Memorial Day weekend? According to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report, the National unleaded average is $3.794 for regular unleaded and $4.522 for diesel. This is up 30 cents from last month’s average and is the highest recorded price. In California, the average is $3.992 ($3.912 in L.A.).

Airline news | Virgin America is having a five-day summer fare sale. Book by May 23 for travel between May 28 and June 25, 2008. Here are a few sample prices for flights departing from L.A.: $179 Los Angeles (LAX) to New York (JFK), $83 Los Angeles (LAX) to Seattle (SEA) and $169 Los Angeles (LAX) to Washington, D.C. (IAD)

Travel TV | “Survivor 17″ will take place in Gabon, Africa. This will be the first season of “Survivor” to be shot in high definition. It will film in late June and air in September of this year.
