Steve Wynn’s luxury Encore hotel opened at 8 tonight (Dec. 22) amid a deep-seated recession that has seen the room rates drop from $200 to $159 during some nights in January.

The Encore, the companion to the 3-year-old Wynn hotel, has 2,034 suites, which each average 700 square feet.

The casino is about 72,000 square feet, and customers can choose from five restaruants. The spa has 37 treatment rooms.

XS is threatening to become the new “it” place in Vegas. It has a 10-foot rotating chandelier.

And finally, what casino would be complete without shopping? The Esplanade at Encore has 11 boutiques.

Looks nice. I may have to go there and see it for real.

I heard about this but I have yet to find some dates with that deal. Should I just call them? My sister is in Vegas now and she said the cab driver told her they are as low as $139 a night.

Yes, we just stayed there and they are as low as $ 159 a night. It is a very nice place to stay.

I purchased a suite for my parents 53 Anniversary. They said the room and service was beautiful. But as they were checking out my parents stated they were extremely rude. See I had previously paid for their room as a gift. They stated since my father was paying for extra charges they would credit my account and bill him for everything. I did not want them to know the price of the room which was 336.61 this was a gift. When i called to discuss this with them they could have cared less. The economy is not so great in Las Vegas you would think they would try to be a little nicer especially at such a nice hotel.
