Southwest 3-day sale: $49 and $99 one-way fares into fall

Southwest jets at LAX. Mel Melcon/Los Angeles Times

Another Southwest sale you say? This one is different. You’ll want to start testing dates and book fall flights right away because this Southwest sale is good for every day of the week, not just on off-peak days like you’re used to seeing on their sales. Travelers have three days to take advantage of this sale. When I checked out the sale destinations I saw that there were a bunch of cities in Texas on sale if you flew out of LAX, and the best prices on flights within California departed from Orange County.

Deal: I found $49 one-way fares from Burbank (BUR) to Phoenix (PHX) and $99 fares from Burbank (BUR) to Albuquerque (ABQ), Portland (PDX), Salt Lake City (SLC) and San Francisco (SFO). Fares are based on 14-days advance purchase and are pre-tax. Obviously the deals are better if used during peak travel times on Friday, Sunday or Monday. Note: On the Southwest website home page, go to the Fly for Less “Click ‘n Save Deals” section to find the sale.

From Los Angeles (LAX) $99 fares were available to:

Milwaukee (MKE)

Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP)

Houston (HOU)

Austin (AUS)

Kansas City (MCI), among others.

From Orange County there were several destination options at the $49 one-way price including:

Las Vegas (LAS)

San Francisco (SFO)

San Jose (SJC)

Oakland (OAK)

When: Book by 11:59 p.m. PDT Thursday for travel through Nov. 19. Valid all days of the week.

Contact: Southwest, (800)435-9792
