For those of you who became addicted to Squishee Slurpees and Sprinkalicious doughnuts during the marketing makeover of a dozen 7-Elevens for last summer’s “Simpsons Movie,” have no fear: The Kwik-E-Mart is back.
Universal Studios Hollywood quietly opened the souvenir shop/convenience store Wednesday, Oct. 17, in advance of the Spring 2008 debut of the new Simpsons ride — basically a Springfield-centric re-theming of the old “Back to the Future” thrill simulator.

While the Hollywood Kwik-E-Mart boasts an abundance of irreverent Simpsons toys, T-shirts and novelties, still missing from the shelves are Buzz Cola, Krusty O’s cereal and Radioactive Man comic books. And while there’s still no Duff Beer (sniffle, sob), there are Duff energy drinks. It’s just not the same.
