Simpsons carnival midway takes shape at Universal Studios

Simpsons Ride at Universal Studios HollywoodVisitors filing through the queue of the $40-million Simpsons Ride opening May 17 at Universal Studios Hollywood unwittingly serve as targets in a series of carnival midway games lining the ride entrance.

Bob’s Photo Albums, a theme park fan site, snapped “behind the wall” pictures of the Simpsons Ride midway at Universal Studios Florida (where the ride will also debut this summer). IOACentral and Orlando United posted “beyond the wall” shots. (Hat tip to Screamscape.)

The six-minute motion simulator ride follows the Simpsons clan as they are plucked from the crowd at the Krustiest Place on Earth to be the first family to tackle the “upsy-downsy, spins-aroundsy, teen-operated ride thrilltacular.”

The midway games include:
* Strike 3 — “The nailed to the table milk bottle game”
* Ring Toss — “Small rings, giant bottles – It’s Impossible”
* Hit It — “Win a smelly toy”
* Pie in the Eye — “Sorry, you can’t ____ the pie” (I couldn’t read the missing word)
* Knock Over the Fuzzy Guy
* Shoot Out the Star
* Bull’s Eye
* Wheel of Chance

Bob’s Photo Albums also caught the Simpsons’ “Universal Studios or Bust” yellow and green recreational vehicle.
> Strapped to the back: A barbecue and a barrel of radioactive waste.
> Up on top: A suitcase, saxophone, pet carrier, fish bowl, two cases of Duff beer and three boxes of pink-frosted doughnuts.
> Bumper stickers: Greetings from Springfield, Bowl-a-Rama and Moe’s Tavern.
