Shopping for airfare today? Here are some deals…

We need to catch you up on airfare sales going on this week. Southwest. Virgin America and JetBlue are all having sales. Plus, there are some international airfare deals on tap. Here are the details, but are they true deals?

JetBlue: Get fares starting at $51 one way by booking 14 days in advance. When: Book by March 27 for travel on or after April 2 and to be completed by May 14, 2008. That doesn’t sound like that much of a deal considering other deals have fares starting in the $40s. Note, service between Long Beach, California (LGB), and Seattle, Washington (SEA); San Jose, California (SJC), San Diego, California (SAN), and Seattle starts May 21, 2008. Southwest: Flights on Tuesdays and Wednesdays start at $49 to $99 one way if you book 14 days in advance. When: Purchase by April 17 for travel April 8 through June 25, 2008. I was excited to see flights between San Diego (SAN) and Washington Dulles (IAD) for $99 each way, but when I looked up Burbank the cost was $139. Contact: Southwest Airlines, (800) 435-9792

Virgin America: Virgin is having another sale. Sample fares for main cabin seats:
$139 Los Angeles (LAX)-New York (JFK)
$123 Los Angeles (LAX)-Washington, DC (IAD)
$83 Los Angeles (LAX)-Seattle (SEA)
When: Tickets must be purchased by March 28 for travel on or after April 1 and must be completed by June 11, 2008. Contact: Virgin America, (877) 359-8474 ($10 extra to book by phone)

American Airlines: Check out the NetSAAver fares to Europe. Book by March 31 for travel March 25 through May 15, 2008. All travel must be completed by June 14, 2008. Latin America is on sale too. Book by March 28 for travel April 1 through June 10, 2008. Return travel to the U.S. must be complete by June 14, 2008. Contact: American Airlines, (800) 433-7300
