Second night free and more at Denali National Park resorts

Denali National Park, Alaska

The Mt. McKinley-topped Denali National Park and Preserve in Alaska is open year-round, but if you want the best chance at cooperative weather, you’d better plan to head up there before mid-September. Game? Then consider taking advantage of park concessionaire Aramark’s current noteworthy special.

Deals: The “Holiday Special” includes a free second night’s stay at one of four lodges near the park’s entrance and a $100 Visa gift card. In addition, the package includes a two-for-one admission to the Denali Natural History Tour, a guided interpretive tour that lasts three to four hours.

But if you prefer not to take the tour, you can still receive a free second night’s lodging and the gift card through the Summer Celebration package, which is the same deal but without the tour.

These deals are good for stays at McKinley Chalet Resort, McKinley Village Lodge, Denali Bluffs Hotel and Grande Denali Lodge. Rates range from $209 to $359 per night, based on double occupancy (pre-tax). If you choose the package with tour, that will cost an extra $90 for one adult (not taxed), with the second guest admitted free.

When: Book by Sept. 15, 2008, for stays from now through Sept. 17, 2008.

Note: When I tested this deal, I was having trouble confirming the tour component online. A park representative recommends booking at least the tour over the phone, to ensure you receive the two-for-one rate. But if you’re going to book that over the phone, I suppose you may as well book your room that way too.
