New York | Are you visiting New York this week? Restaurant Week Summer 2008 begins today. Two hundred restaurants will drop their prices for the next 10 days so that locals and travelers alike can sample the Big Apple’s dining scene. Get a three-course lunch for only $24.07. Dinners are just $35 per person.
Airline news | More flights cuts are here. Midwest is cutting flights to 11 daily cities including San Diego. Service will remain in Los Angeles and Seattle. Read: Midwest Air Group to cut service to 11 cities.
Olympics | If you were worried about the air quality in Beijing for the Olympics, know that they are trying to cram in a quick clean-up. A total of 3.3 million car owners have been relegated to driving only on alternate days, mass transit has been expanded and a new a $2.3-billion subway line linking the northern Zhongguancun area to the city has been opened. Read: Beijing moves to clear the air and the roads. Note: Car owners aren’t the only residents in Beijing to get pulled off the streets. Migrant workers, beggars and many masseuses and fortune tellers have also been “sent packing.”
