Santa Fe hotel is an art lover’s dream

Colorful Santa Fe, N.M., has a new art gallery that isn’t a gallery at all: It’s a hotel.

La Posada de Santa Fe Resort & Spa recently hired an on-site art curator who organizes weekly meet-the-artist sessions for guests and can arrange lessons as well. In addition, the hotel houses 250 works of art from 22 artists.

Santa Fe, the nearly 400-year-old city and capital of New Mexico, has long been known as a center of art. Its stark scenery and undiffused sunlight have drawn artists and photographers from around the world, and dozens of galleries can be found in the city.

Among the artists represented at the gallery at La Posada are John Farnsworth, Susan Contreras and Sara Eyestone, an oil painter who acts as the hotel’s art curator. The art is spread through the resort in public areas, such as the restaurant and spa, and in guests’ rooms and suites.

“Rates at the hotel, a RockResorts property, begin at $168 per night, with a $30 daily resort charge.

I love the concept of the ‘art hotel’. I just got back from a trip to Berlin, a city that has really embraced this style of hospitality. I reviewed two completely different ‘art hotels’ on my travel blog, http://www.flashnomad.com Since I write travel/style books (SWAHILI CHIC and SAFARI CHIC), I included two slideshows showing the rooms, cheap and chic, as well as the artwork.

Casa de Estrellas private villas in downtown Santa Fe are works of art! We also incorporate local artists for the best of design and art that you can live in and that you can stay in!
The owner and designer Jay Payne is from California and best-known for celebrity home design and sunset blvd restaurants. He has combined the world-class art destination of Santa Fe with his own appreciation for design.
Check out the villas for rent at http://www.casadeestrellas.com and leave the corporate hotels behind!

After visiting in the hotel last year I decided I definitely wanted to show my art work at the La Posada Santa Fe Hotel and Spa.
Sara Eyestone, art curator and artist for the hotel answered my desire by picking up my work and showing it in the Rose Room at the hotel.
Go by, view mine as well as other artists paintings and enjoy this absolutely beautiful hotel.
